Wit and Wisdom Last Night

So, then, last night I attended the big celebration evening down in the Museum, where some of us received certificates for 25 hours' or 50 hours' service. As one of those who'd done 25 hours, it gave me a chance to get out and enjoy a bit of a Christmas bash; probably the only Yuletide bash I will get this year, next to the one up at the folks' place on the day.

And I said this, before the event:-

- Mum: "If you get lucky, remember to be careful."
Me: "I doubt I'll get lucky."
Mum: "Don't go looking for the pretty ones. Look for the ones that have beauty on the inside."
Me: "Yeah, but you know how much they scream when I show them the scalpel."

  3. Further fun at the meeting ...

We all had to hold out our certificates for the pictures, and suddenly I blurted out "I hope my certificate isn't upside down!" So the photographer's got a shot of everybody with their heads bowed looking down at their papers, except for me, standing there looking at the camera with this huge grin ...

A while later, we had this buffet, and I spotted that they had shiny forks that turned out plastic, not metal. So I asked the host if they feared we would start attacking each other, then I pantomimed stabbing downwards with the fork, growling "That's MY vol au vent!" ... they almost jumped through the wall.

Some people really don't get my humour.

"And if we have unearned luck, now to scape the serpent's tongue, we will make amends ere long. Else the Puck a liar call ..."

So speak.
