Beauty and The Pills

A bittersweet reversioning of "Beauty and The Beast," which I wrote a good while back. Imagine this being sung in Angela Lansbury's voice, like the original from the Disney animation.

Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Oh so many friends
Then the party ends
Unexpectedly

Forced to live alone
Loneliness that kills
Tale as old as time
Sadness old as rhyme
Beauty and the pills.

Once she was so young
Flush with lovely youth
Now she is so old
The mirror is so cold
She cannot face the truth

She who wooed the crowds
Lovers at her feet
Now she sits at home
Forgotten and alone
Her bitterness is sweet

Now she takes to bed
A cure for all her ills”
Tale as old as time
Sadness old as rhyme
Beauty and the pills

Tale as old as time
No reason and no rhyme
Beauty and the pills
