The characteristics are:-
Strength (STR) - raw muscle power.
Constitution (CON) - physical toughness and resilience.
Size (SIZ) - physical stature, literal size and body bulk.
Intelligence (INT) - smarts, ability to process data into something meaningful, accurately and quickly.
Power (POW) - mystical connection to the universe; strength of the soul.
Dexterity (DEX) - physical dexterity; agility, flexibility, digital finesse.
Charisma (CHA) - presence and demeanour; composure, charm, attraction, allure, sexual magnetism.
For humans, STR, CON, POW, DEX and CHA are rolled on three six-sided dice, whereas SIZ and INT are both rolled on two six-sided dice and 6 added to the result. In game terms, the first lot are rolled on 3d6 and the latter two on 2d6+6. Both kinds of roll yield a maximum result of 18; it is only the minima and averages which differ. 3d6 yields a minimum of 3 and an average of 10; 2d6+6 yields a minimum of 8 and an average of 13.
But what of non-humans, some of which could be physically more imposing or capable than baseline humans? What about Trolls, orcs, Uruk-Hai orcs, elves, dwarves and so on? Their STR, SIZ, DEX and so on ought to reflect their non-human capabilities.
The other day, on the Mongoose Legend forum, I posted a table showing very low and low through to exceptional dice ranges, to reflect different types of characteristics for members of different races. Elves, for instance, might have higher tendency towards SIZ and DEX, and be physically weaker yet far tougher than their scrawny appearance would suggest; CON at 2d6+6, STR at 2d6, SIZ at 3d6+6, DEX at 3d6+6.
Here is the table.
