Sonnet - Let Me Dream

Let Me Dream

My heart lies empty in a darkened soul.
I cannot see the path; I cannot see
What lies ahead; the time that is to be.
Without you, I am not completely whole.

My tasks, these days, bear me towards my goal
Of excellence; but this is not for me.
It is for us. It is for what may be
That I fight on. To struggle is my role.

To live without you - that would take a toll
Upon my heart of such a great degree
That I could not recover. So you see,
I still want you beside me. You, who stole

My heart, now hold it; listen how it screams.
My love. Be patient. Let me dream my dreams.
